Obama fails to deliver on deficit promise

FEBRUARY 23, 2012
Now that President Obama has gotten the platitudes out of the way, let’s see the real budget — one that combines necessary fiscal discipline with selected spending that will move the United States forward.
The spending end of his budget shows vision on the latter. His $3.8 trillion proposal also claims to reduce the deficit in the short run, assuming it is based on numbers that even come close to reality — a broad assumption; this is politics — and also cut it as a percentage of the gross domestic product within five years. But the national debt would continue to grow to $19.2 trillion by 2022. That’s the wrong direction.
The budget aims to increase spending for education, job creation and infrastructure improvements, all of which are connected on some level. He is right that we cannot “cut our way to growth” and that we must not allow our roads, bridges and institutions to deteriorate. But …
Obama promised to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term, a promise this budget does not keep. It does cut the deficit to $901 billion next year and to $612 billion by 2017 (down from this year’s projected $1.3 trillion). His budget aims to do that in part by raising taxes, especially on people with the highest incomes.
In a column published below, Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank calls it a nonstarter — even Senate Democrats, who sit in the majority in that chamber, are balking. Republicans, pushing back against anything that could be construed as a tax increase, have effectively declared the plan dead on arrival.
Critics have a point that Obama’s budget recommendation is more than likely a campaign platform than a spending proposal with a realistic chance of getting through Congress. The Republican budget effort, led by Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, may have more than a hint of election-season flavor, too, and neither is likely to stand much chance of passage as written.
The budget fight promises to be contentious, pitting Republicans’ stated mission to slash government spending — the consequences of which would fall hardest on the lower and middle classes — against Democratic pressure and widespread public support for measures to increase taxes on the wealthiest Americans. Neither side has shown willingness to consider the reality that reducing the debt will take a combination of spending cuts and new revenue, including possible tax increases or expiration of President George W. Bush’s tax cut for the wealthy.
And there has been little if any movement toward meaningful debt-reduction talks since the issue came to a head last year over Obama’s proposal to increase the debt ceiling. A similar confrontation looms just around the corner.
The Bowles-Simpson commission provided a road map for cutting the debt, even if almost every American might have found something unpalatable in it. But this was a serious attempt to address a problem that, uncorrected, will pose a real risk to our economic and, possibly, national security. We may not be Greece, but we got a wake-up call when Standard & Poor’s downgraded the U.S. credit rating last year.
In an election year, when Republicans’ No. 1 goal is to make Obama a one-term president and his goal is to win another four years in the White House, it’s hard to imagine that any progress is possible.
In a small step in the right direction, it does appear that House and Senate negotiators have reached a compromise on extending the payroll tax. It would be good to see that cooperation extend into other areas where the two sides share some common ground.

19 Facts About Abortion In America That Should Make You Very Sick

FEBRUARY 15, 2012
Every single day, a silent horror kills more Americans than were killed on 9/11. Every single year, this silent horror kills about as many Americans as have been killed on all the battlefields in all of the wars in U.S. history combined. This silent horror is called abortion, and it is a national disgrace. Overall, more than 50 million babies have been slaughtered since Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973. We have become a nation with so little regard for human life that nobody even really talks that much about this issue anymore. But the truth is that it is at the very core of what is wrong with America. As I have written about previously, we have become a nation that is obsessed with population control, and we have been exporting this sick philosophy all over the globe. As you read this, there are workers from U.S. organizations and UN organizations (both funded by your tax dollars) that are on the other side of the world setting up “family planning services” for women in poor countries. The goal of these organizations (just like we see in the United States) is to reduce the number of poor children being born. The sick control freaks that run things have decided that overpopulation is a plague that must be eradicated and that mass murder is the answer. Unfortunately, there are very few people that are still willing to speak out strongly against abortion in America. So the carnage is just going to go on and on and on.
What will the history books say about a nation that murdered 50 million of its own babies?
The following are 19 facts about abortion in America that should make you very sick….
#1 There have been more than 53 million abortions performed in the United States since Roe v. Wade was decided back in 1973.
#2 When you total up all forms of abortion, including those caused by the abortion drug RU 486, the grand total comes to more than a million abortions performed in the United States every single year.
#3 The number of American babies killed by abortion each year is roughly equal to the number of U.S. military deaths that have occurred in all of the wars that the United States has ever been involved in combined.
#4 Approximately 3,000 Americans lost their lives as a result of the destruction of the World Trade Center towers on 9/11. Every single day, more than 3,000 American babies are killed by abortion.
#5 It has been reported that a staggering 41 percent of all New York City pregnancies end in abortion.
#6 According to Pastor Clenard Childress, approximately 52 percent of all African-American pregnancies now end in abortion.
#7 One very shocking study found that 86 percent of all abortions are done for the sake of convenience.
#8 According to the Guttmacher Institute, the average cost of a first trimester abortion at the ten week mark is $451.
#9 The average cost of a vaginal birth with no complications in the United States is now over $9,000.
#10 A Department of Homeland Security report that was released in January 2012 says that if you are “anti-abortion”, you are a potential terrorist. Unfortunately, there have also been other government reports that have also identified “anti-abortion” protesters as potential threats.
#11 A while back one Philadelphia abortionist was charged with killing seven babies that were born alive, but witnesses claim that he actually slaughtered hundreds “of living, breathing newborn children by severing their spinal cords or slitting their necks.”
#12 Some abortion clinics have been caught selling aborted baby parts to medical researchers.
#13 Planned Parenthood Founder Margaret Sanger once said the following….
“The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.”
#14 In a 1922 book entitled “Woman, Morality, and Birth Control”, Planned Parenthood Founder Margaret Sanger wrote the following….
“Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race.”
#15 Planned Parenthood performs more than 300,000 abortions every single year.
#16 Planned Parenthood specifically targets the poor. A staggering 72 percent of Planned Parenthood’s “customers” have incomes that are either equal to or beneath 150 percent of the federal poverty level.
#17 There are 30 Planned Parenthood executives that make more than $200,000 a year. A few of them make more than $300,000 a year.
#18 Planned Parenthood received more than 487 million dollars from the federal government during 2010.
#19 The following is one description of the five steps of a partial birth abortion….
1) Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the baby’s legs with forceps.
2) The baby’s leg is pulled out into the birth canal.
3) The abortionist delivers the baby’s entire body, except for the head.
4) The abortionist jams scissors into the baby’s skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the skull.
5) The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child’s brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed.
How can we murder our own children?
Unfortunately, there are organizations out there such as Planned Parenthood that spend millions upon millions of dollars trying to convince the American people that abortion is okay. Just check out this jaw dropping propaganda video.
And every single year, politicians from both political parties continue to vote to give hundreds of millions of our tax dollars to Planned Parenthood.
Our politicians talk about how we need to spread our values to the rest of the world, but what kind of “values” do we really have when we have such little respect for human life?
There is no hope for America as long as this mass slaughter of innocent children continues to go on all across the United States.
Please share this list of facts about abortion in America with as many people as you can. We need to wake the American people up. Most Americans spend their days in an entertainment-induced haze and take very little time to think about the issues that really matter.
And if you think that the issue of abortion does not matter, then you are dead wrong.
The mass murder of more than 50 million American babies is something that cannot be ignored.
Their blood is crying out to us from the ground where it has been spilled.
Yes, this article is going to make a lot of people uncomfortable, but it is the truth.
Isn’t it time that someone started telling the truth in America?

I think this shows Rahm Lying to Chicagoans, Like a WhiteHouse Flashback!

Rahm: ‘For Sale’ YouTube Video Is Typo

Rahm Denies "For Sale" YouTube Video

By Mary Ann Ahern
December 13, 2010
Part of the evidence being used in the residency challenge to Rahm Emanuel’s candidacy is a YouTube video displaying his home for sale.
The realtor’s tour-style video, which was put together for Real Estate Agent Charlotte Newberger, shows sweeping images of the Emanuel home at 4228 Hermitage Avenue set to wistful piano music.
Though the video is clearly labeled "Homes for Sale – 4228 Hermitage, Chicago, Il, 60613 – Charlotte Newberger," Emanuel’s camp says there was a typo.
"The house was never for sale somebody just tagged ‘for sale’ on the YouTube site," said an Emanuel campaign staffer. Another staffer promised more information later this afternoon. "The house was never for sale, only for rent." …
This video comes on top of this earlier report from the Chicago Sun-Times:

Emanuel claimed part-year residency in ’09

BY ABDON PALLASCH AND MONIFA THOMAS
Dec 12, 2010
When Rahm Emanuel originally filed his 2009 Illinois tax return, he indicated he was only a “part-year resident’’ of the state that year, since he had moved to Washington D.C. to serve as President Obama’s chief of staff.
But after he decided to return to Chicago to run for mayor this fall — and after several people challenged whether he was eligible to run based on the fact that he hadn’t lived in the city for a full-year prior to the Feb. 2 election — he filed an amended return.
“The original return’s statements regarding part-year residency were not accurate,” Emanuel and his wife wrote in a return filed Nov. 24. “The amended returns make clear that we were full-year residents of Illinois in 2009. … We are also full-year residents of Illinois in 2010.”
The tax returns were among the hundreds of documents released late Saturday in response to a Freedom of Information request by the Chicago-Sun-Times…
Attorney Burt Odelson, who is leading the charge to knock Emanuel off the ballot, said Saturday night that the fact that Emanuel filed the “non-resident and part-year resident’’ tax return shows even he acknowledged — at least initially — he wasn’t a resident in the last half of 2009 or for most of 2010 before he moved back to the state recently…
On the original Illinois return, in response to the question, “Were you, or your spouse … a full-year resident of Illinois during the tax year?’’ Emanuel checked “No.’’ He said he lived in the state only until June 30, 2009…
What a shock to see that Rahm Emanuel, a respected and powerful Democrat politician, plays fast and loose with the truth.
Our ideals are crushed once again.

Stewart,Colbert and Much ado about nothing

Stretching a tired comedy skit over a three hour period, surrounding it with sometimes marginal music ( Sheryl, learn the song at least,or are you still saving paper?) liberals who so very desperately wanted to co-opt this gathering into some ObamaNationII: Revenge of the tree huggers, and the Demospoxnuts who want to spin this into a platform revival and political sleight of hand to again fool the lemming electorate. Too bad that such a large block of professional lefties were in D.C this week instead of getting out the precious Dem vote. Whoops.
Then again the turnout by all of the unmotivated vapid nitwits of the left will be dismal at best and the independents are trending so very conservative abandoning their summer fling with hopey-changey feel good blather that maybe it would've been a different waste of time.
Sorry, It appears they won't get fooled again.

I like John Stewart. He is a terrific comedic talent and an insightful person. Where Stewart has a note of empathy in his comments and an understanding of people Stephen Colbert is a crass, hollow, knock-off version of his benefactor and just appears to be the voice of heavy-handed smarm.

When combined, Colbert's crassness bastardizes Stewart's humor in a way that if left unmanaged, could severely damage the long-term career plans of Mr. Stewart.

Stewart struck me as the perfectly sincere embodiment of Mr. Smith goes to Washington, while Mr. Colbert struck me as nothing more than the snarky, sniveling creep who screamed "yeah Johnny,Yeah johnny do it do it! when the evil Coach yells "sweep the Leg!" in Karate Kid.

The highlight for me was the video montage of newsies proclaiming every possible end-of-the-world teaser and John Stewart coming in at the end as the true voice of reason against the news-about-nothing tactic driven by money that ALL news organizations( maybe we should call them News Sellers from now on).

Said another way, Stewart is the guys everyone wants as a friend, and Colbert is his creepy, repellent and hollow imitation.
