Jay-Z Wants Less Government, But Supports Obama Because He’s Black

BERT ATKINSON JR. SEPTEMBER 28, 2012 3:17 PM

Frustrating. Jay-Z likes Barack Obama as the leader of the United States not because of his policies, but because he’s black.
“I support Barack because I gotta respect that sort of vision. I gotta respect a man who is the first black President ever,” he said. “To have that sort of vision and dream, I have to support that.”
I get what he’s saying: Obama becoming the first black president of the U.S. is monumental, and the man who first accomplished this feat deserves respect from anyone.
…and then Jay-Z said this:
“To be honest with you I think a lot of people are serving their own agendas, so they just argue back and forth and they think about their next term,” Jay-Z said. ”And it’s more about themselves than about the people. They’re servicing the people, but we rarely get anything done because they’re going back and forth with whatever they’re doing, so I’m not really into politics.”
He also mentioned that he doesn’t “even like the word politics” and that he thinks we “need less government,” but he supports Obama?
The part that is frustrating is that Jay-Z is judging Obama not by the content of his character, but by the color of his skin (heard this before?), because all signs point to a more conservative or libertarian rap mogul and not a guy that a large percentage of the country thinks is about to fall over to the socialist side of the fence
