Stretching a tired comedy skit over a three hour period, surrounding it with sometimes marginal music ( Sheryl, learn the song at least,or are you still saving paper?) liberals who so very desperately wanted to co-opt this gathering into some ObamaNationII: Revenge of the tree huggers, and the Demospoxnuts who want to spin this into a platform revival and political sleight of hand to again fool the lemming electorate. Too bad that such a large block of professional lefties were in D.C this week instead of getting out the precious Dem vote. Whoops.
Then again the turnout by all of the unmotivated vapid nitwits of the left will be dismal at best and the independents are trending so very conservative abandoning their summer fling with hopey-changey feel good blather that maybe it would've been a different waste of time.
Sorry, It appears they won't get fooled again.
I like John Stewart. He is a terrific comedic talent and an insightful person. Where Stewart has a note of empathy in his comments and an understanding of people Stephen Colbert is a crass, hollow, knock-off version of his benefactor and just appears to be the voice of heavy-handed smarm.
When combined, Colbert's crassness bastardizes Stewart's humor in a way that if left unmanaged, could severely damage the long-term career plans of Mr. Stewart.
Stewart struck me as the perfectly sincere embodiment of Mr. Smith goes to Washington, while Mr. Colbert struck me as nothing more than the snarky, sniveling creep who screamed "yeah Johnny,Yeah johnny do it do it! when the evil Coach yells "sweep the Leg!" in Karate Kid.
The highlight for me was the video montage of newsies proclaiming every possible end-of-the-world teaser and John Stewart coming in at the end as the true voice of reason against the news-about-nothing tactic driven by money that ALL news organizations( maybe we should call them News Sellers from now on).
Said another way, Stewart is the guys everyone wants as a friend, and Colbert is his creepy, repellent and hollow imitation.
